Bali
First meal in Bali. Avocado drink is a must. Heavenly.
I'm salivating, thinking of every Bali buffet breakfast I had.
Kecak dance, a must see in Bali
My guide encouraged us to walk all the way to 'hut' at the edge of the cliff. But tak laratlah.
Beautiful sunset in Uluwatu
Going off Bali also kena suap RM50. Sigh..

My Baby was lost in Parkson
Last Sunday, my wife and I brought our 13-month-old baby to Parkson in The Spring. The moment we entered the ground floor, he itched to go down and wandered by himself. By the time I brought him to third floor, my wife was selecting pieces of fabric for our new place. When we reached a section selling mirrors, I did the dumbest thing a father could do. I let my baby out of my sight for 3 seconds. He was probably about 5 feet away. Apparently, he ran away to touch things on display. For that long long 2 minutes, I kept telling myself not to panic. When my wife saw my worried face, she knew that I had lost sight of our son. She was calling our son over and over again. I ran up and down every aisle. And thank God for mercy, I found my Darrien walked around with puzzled face "Where are Mommy and Daddy?"
Big lesson was learnt on that day. Never, ever... lost sight of our child. If we have to look away, even for a mere one second, we must hold on to a part of our precious baby.
God knows what will happen to both of us should our baby was not found that night..
Is it the right time to buy a child leash?

Brush teeth
My boy's teeth!
My baby has a total of 9 teeth. One molar in his lower back of the mouth and 2 sets of four teeth, each at the lower and upper front.
He has quite a few baby toothbrushes but I hardly use them. My baby just doesn't want to cooperate with the brushing process. Once in a while, I use a moist clean face towel to gently clean the inside of his mouth.
I read somewhere in the Net that we shouldn't leave a milk bottle for the baby to fend for himself while he sleeps. That worries me because I always do just that. I'll fall asleep before he finishes his milk. The milk was said to pool in his mouth and cause tooth decay.
What's your experience?

My Darrien's First Birthday
A much delayed post. My son's first birthday party. Lots of food. Hoards of fun. Great memories.
Sticks of fruit bites. Pancake love bites.
Steamed eggs with crabsticks.
Deliciously looking spaghetti with cherry tomatoes and fried rice.
Mini pizzas. Mini hot dogs.
Salad
Probably the best dish. Stuffed button mushroom. Yum yum..
Happy Birthday, Darrien!

Singapore Underwater World
I went to Singapore Underwater world two years ago with my wife. If I'd not mistaken, we paid around RM50 each for the admission into Dolphin Lagoon and Underwater World.
The number of people in Dolphin Lagoon was very large comprising mostly Indians. Surprising though.
The obligatory show starter.
How they train the dolphin to hit ball always intrigue me.
Next, the Underwater World. Spot the turtle among the fish.
Human-head fish. The place actually bored me. It lacked the wow factor
I wondered if it tasted nice should I steamed it.
Rock like fish with cancer under its stomach 8-(
Uninteresting..

Singapore Zoo
Before we went to Universal Studio, we visited Singapore Zoo the day earlier. The zoo is touted as among the best zoo in the world, if not the best.
Preparing for a great zoo trip ahead
Where's the animal?
We're watching animal show. Somehow my boy was more interested with the girls behind us.
Admiring 'wall of the jungle'
My son's face, similar to mine when I'm at work
White tiger
Emu
My baby and I. Not enough pictures of the animals?

Last animal picture. Longest living vertebrate in the world. Tortoise from Galapagos. Enjoy.

Universal Studio Singapore
We had our second family vacation of the year couple of weeks ago. This time, we went to Singapore. Part of our itinerary was to go to Universal Studio for a day. S$66 per person was really a good deal. It's free entrance for any child below 3 years old.
Hollywood was the first attraction. My son posed on a popcorn car.
Next attraction was Madagascar. Can you spot the plane on the tree 8-)
Far Far Away Land. Shrek's froggy father-in-law's castle!
My son had slept halfway through. The Donkey Live show and the 4D movie were marvelous in this attraction. We enjoyed them thoroughly.
Lunch in this place called Mel's Drive-in.
My makan tengah hari. Yummy.
There were other attractions like the Lost World, Egypt, Jurassic Park, New York and Sci-Fi. But let's not spoil the fun shall we? Do come to Universal Studio Singapore!
We left the place around 6pm. My last picture in Universal Studio. Oohh La La...

Cuti Tanpa Gaji
I sent in my Cuti Tanpa Gaji Ikut Pasangan yesterday. My Head of Department brought me to see our Hospital's Director, Dr. Chin. We discussed of possibility for me to be transferred to Kuching but I had tried several times with persons in charge in Kuching with no success. It's hard for my wife to be all alone in Cats' City without our baby by her side. The result of our meeting was that I needed another official form and documents to complete my application before being sent to Headquater (Kuching) for consideration. I'm asking for 39 months of no pay leave. I am required to send in the application at least 3 months before I can start taking leave.
From the days when I used to earn six figure salary annually to measly sum that I earn in 2010 to zero ringgit. It's difficult but for the sake of family togetherness, I have to do it.

Stay at home dad
I had read the Malaysian Government's circular entitled "PEKELILING PERKHIDMATAN BILANGAN 29 TAHUN 2009 - CUTI TANPA GAJI BAGI PEGAWAI YANG MENGIKUT PASANGAN BERTUGAS ATAU BERKURSUS DI DALAM ATAU DI LUAR NEGERI" several times. I enquired about my unpaid leave today with the Administration people and my Head of Department. It's been a nagging issue for me. It's almost official that I'm becoming a Stay at Home Dad next year. These minority group of people numbered couple of thousands men can be found in Singapore. I'm not sure about these Stay At Home Dads (SAHD) in Malaysia.
My wife supports my idea. So do I. It's a big decision to be made. But we pray that it's part of God's plan.

Kursus Induksi Bil. 10/2010 Sarawak
Today marks the end of my first year's job as a Pegawai Sains. My induction course just concluded end of last week. Given the chance, I'll never go for another one. Too many sleepless nights. Stress, fatigue, anxiety, I'd been through them all. The only consolation probably would be being in the company of many new friends around me.
